چکیده

Many experimental and clinical trials showed a high efficacy of whole body hyperthermia (43-44°C) (WBH) in treatment of malignant tumors and in some viral diseases including HIV/AIDS. However a widespread clinical application of WBH remains difficult due to poorly controlled circulation disturbances. The aim of current research is to describe structural connections between the organs during WBH (43-44°C), and find the way to stabilize blood circulation. Current research formulates model requirements for blood circulation changes, and shows interconnections between the models of circulation and heat transfer. Potentialities of circuit theory allow measuring of some parameters (thermal capacity and thermal conductivity of organs) in the beginning of WBH procedure when circulation is stable. Results from the model will allow predicting blood circulation disorder and their prevention when rising the body temperature over 42°C. Thus it can be use for temperature calculation, increase of efficacy and safety of hyperthermia.

Effect of Acute and Chronic Heat Exposure on Frequency of EEG Components in Different Sleep-Wake State in Young Rats

The recent literatures indicate that central nervous system (CNS) is highly vulnerable to systemic hyperthermia induced by whole body heating on conscious animals. In the present study, cerebral electrical activity or EEG (electroencephalogram) following exposure to high environmental heat has been studied in moving rats. Rats were divided into three group (i) acute heat stress-subjected to a s...

THE EFFECT OF HYPERTHERMIA ON THE DIFFERENTIATION OF LEUKEMIC CELL LINES

Treatment of human promonocytic leukemic cell line U937 with mild hyperthermia in the temperature range of 40-43°C resulted in differentiation of these cells into monocyte/macrophage-like cells in a heat dose and time dependent manner. This process was accompanied by marked morphological, functional and proliferational changes. U937 cells which normally grow in supension in the logarithmic...

Heat-shock response and limitation of tissue necrosis during occlusion/reperfusion in rabbit hearts.

BACKGROUND Induction of stress proteins, such as heat-shock protein 71 (HSP71), is associated with cardioprotection in isolated ischemic myocardium. We tested this hypothesis in rabbits pretreated with whole-body hyperthermia and then subjected to 30 or 45 minutes of regional coronary occlusion (CO) followed by 3 hours reperfusion (Rep). METHODS AND RESULTS Control rabbits did not undergo who...

Depletion of Serotonin Synthesis with p-CPA Pretreatment Alters EEG in Urethane Anesthetized Rats under Whole Body Hyperthermia

Serotonin is believed as an important factor in brain function. The role of serotonin in cerebral psycho-patho-physiology has already been well established. However, the function of serotonin antagonist in anesthetized subjects under hyperthermia has not been studied properly. Methods: Experiments were performed in three groups of urethane-anesthetized rats, such as: (i) control group, (ii) wh...

The ameliorative potential of ethanolic extract of propolis on hematotoxicity and structural neuronal damage in hyperthermia-exposed rats

Objective(s): Hyperthermia is one of the most common environmental stressors that affect multi-biological systems in the body including the central nervous system as well as the hematopoietic organs. The objective of the present study was to investigate the protective role of ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP) on some selective stress markers, hematological, biochemical, and histopathological ...
